Macomb County police and federal authorities are investigating a narcotics distribution ring that used the U.S. mail to transport hundreds of grams of ecstasy, molly and other drugs in Oakland County, according to Michigan State Police.

Officials said Friday the investigation started in April as the County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET),  Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service initiated an investigation after receiving word of a suspect receiving and distributing drugs in Oakland County.

They executed a search warrant on Wednesday at an undisclosed location in Oakland County and took one suspect into custody.

Investigators said they “seized 249 grams MDMA, 15 grams of ketamine, 615 Xanax pills, 3 grams of crushed Xanax powder,  62 grams of methadone, and 30 carisoprodol pills.”

The suspect’s name, age and residence was not released as authorities said the investigation is ongoing into additional distribution networks.

COMET is an undercover drug task force made up of officers from Chesterfield Township, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Roseville, St. Clair Shores, Shelby Township, and federal agencies.

The investigation was supported by Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) awarded by the U.S. Justice Department and administered by MSP.
