After a day off on Saturday, following their scrimmage at Allegiant Stadium on Friday, the Raiders were to return to their regular training camp practices Sunday at their facility in Henderson. But just as practice was to begin, it was called off, though according to Raiders officials, it is not COVID-19 related.

Right about the same time the Raiders called off practice, the league issued a memo on several COVID testing issues.

“Saturday’s daily COVID testing returned several positive tests from each of the clubs serviced by the same laboratory in New Jersey. We are working with our testing partner, BioReference, to investigate these results, while the clubs work to confirm or rule out the positive tests. Clubs are taking immediate precautionary measures as outlined in the NFL-NFLPA’s health and safety protocols to include contact tracing, isolation of individuals and temporarily adjusting the schedule, where appropriate. The other laboratories used in NFL testing have not had similar results.”

As of early Sunday morning, many COVID-19 test results had not yet come in. While there have been instances during this process in which tests results have not come in until the following day, typically they come back the same day. The delay is results could be related to the false positives.

It won’t simply be a day off for the Raiders. They will still be at the facility working out and there will still be player conference call interviews.
