Planning a Disney World or Disneyland Trip Even Though the Parks are Closed - Inside the Magic

The Disney Parks are currently closed until further notice. Many fans remain hopeful that their summer vacations will still be possible, while others wonder, is it okay to plan a Disney trip even though the parks are closed? The answer is yes! Here’s all the information you need to know about planning a Disney trip even though the parks are closed, whether you want to go to Disneyland or Disney World.

Scheduling a Trip Even Though the Parks are Closed

At this time, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are closed until further notice, and we don’t yet know when they will reopen. You can read all about what we know for sure in our post here.

We do know, however, that reservations for new trips can be made from June 1 onward. Even though an exact reopening date has not yet been given for Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, hopeful travelers and upcoming guests are able to schedule their vacations — as well as (when the time comes) dining reservations and FastPass+ bookings — from June 1, 2020 and beyond.

Just because the parks aren’t open currently doesn’t mean you can’t still purchase your tickets for this fall’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom or Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure. And you can certainly still try to snag that dinner reservation for Blue Bayou at Disneyland or ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — as long as you plan to arrive on June 1 or later!

Trying to Stay Positive? Planning a Trip Could Be the Cure to Your Blues

As fans of the Disney Parks, so many of us are heartbroken that the current health crisis has led to their temporary closure. But one of the best ways to cope with post-Disney blues is to plan a trip to Disney, so that means one way to stay positive while the parks are closed is to plan a vacation for after they reopen!

Planning a trip for the future gives you something magical to look forward to. It instills in us the reassurance that one day soon, the Disney theme parks will all be open again. And giving yourself that light at the end of this tunnel of self-isolation may be just one more thing to help you get through this seemingly never-ending time of uncertainty. A trip could be the vaccine to your quarantine blues!

Remember that Disney allows you to put down a deposit before paying your entire trip in full. So if you want to visit the Happiest Place on Earth or the Most Magical Place on Earth sometime in the second half of 2020 or in 2021, but maybe the funds haven’t quite lined up yet, don’t worry. You can put down a deposit for your Disneyland or Disney World vacation, treat it like a bill every month, and pay it off in full before you arrive. Even if you have to book your trip for early next year, you will still have something incredibly wonderful to look forward to. And a Disney trip is just the wonderful thought we could all be thinking of right now.
