HYDERABAD: Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Foods Ltd (Ruchi Soya) is girding up to pump in over Rs 1,000 crore in setting up integrated oil palm processing facilities in Telangana over the next four years.
The company is scouting for 250 acres of land for an integrated complex in Nalgonda district even as its is eyeing 55,000 hectares of land in Nalgonda and Suryapet for oil palm cultivation, Patanjali Foods Ltd CEO Sanjeev Asthana told TOI.
"We already have 3,000 hectares of oil palm under cultivation in the state and are looking at ramping up farmer engagement, setting up nurseries and plants.
"We intend to start with 20 tonnes per day capacity and ramp up the processing to 2000 tpd when we eventually have a very large complex that will not only have a capacity to process FFB (fresh fruit bunches of oil palm) but also a refinery that can process about 1-1.5 lakh tonnes of crude oil per annum," Sanjeev Asthana said.
