It was a strange season in 2021, with Covid protocols leading to unbalanced schedules and limiting the number of games some teams managed to play last season -- but that is not expected to be the case in 2022.
Last year’s 10-game CHSAA campaign was among the most exciting in recent memory, and saw three of the Staten Island division’s four schools (Sea, Farrell, St. Peter’s) tied at 6-3 at one point. With improvement expected from Moore Catholic, all four schools are projected to be in contention atop the division this season.
Though St. Peter’s emerged with the Island’s regular season crown, it was St. Joseph-by-the-Sea which captured the Archdiocesan title. The Vikings, however, were not permitted to play for a city title due to last year’s Covid protocols, but that won’t be an issue this year.
